If I get a flu shot, will I get sick?
No! RediMed administered flu shots contain the inactive (dead) vaccine. Just one dose of influenza vaccine is needed each year, except for children age 8 and younger who are getting a flu shot for the first time or who received a shot for the first time last year. These children should get two doses, four weeks apart.
October and November are the best times to get a flu shot. But getting vaccinated in December or even later is still beneficial. Influenza usually strikes during the months of November through May but usually peaks during January and February.
The influenza vaccine may be given at the same time as other vaccines, including the pneumococcal vaccine.
